Susan Peschin, chair of FONIA, offered testimony before the House Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education on March 28, 2014, calling for an additional $500 million to be added to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fiscal Year 2015 budget to support aging research. The above letter was signed by over 20 organizations belonging to the Friends of NIA (FoNIA), strongly urging an increase in NIH funding of $500 million from the FY 2013 level in the Administration’s proposed FY 2015 budget to support aging research efforts at the NIH.
This letter was presented to NIH Director, Dr. Francis Collins, and NIA Director, Dr. Richard Hodes, on October 7, 2013. It was signed by over 500 aging and Alzheimer’s disease researchers, educators and clinicians who support an additional $500 million in the FY 2015 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Budget to support aging research.
